An exploration through action research of communication artefacts produced by the institution and the artist teacher to inform and support student learning. The researcher is Kayla Parker, an artist film-maker and, at the time of this project, was a 0.4 lecturer in animation and film arts at Plymouth College of Art and Design, UK. The communication artefacts produced by the institution are the 2006 - 2007 student handbook and the summer term 2007 timetable for the first year of the Foundation Degree in Animation and Creative Media course; the new communication artefacts are study support materials produced by Kayla Parker.
The Art of Conversation site was set up to disseminate study support materials produced by Kayla Parker as a subjective response in the form of an online scrapbook/diary or weblog to the theme of each week's teaching session for the first year Foundation Degree in Animation and Creative Media character design and animation module. The character weblog link is in the sidebar to the right. The Art of Conversation project site was regularly updated from April to June 2007, during which time data collection took place. I’ve archived the site here under ‘other projects’. The blog was structured into 7 categories that corresponded to the theme of the weekly teaching session for the first 7 weeks of the character design and animation module: portraits, stereotypes, animals, environment, originals, movement, and merchandise.
The Art of Conversation website was designed and constructed by Kayla Parker for the module LTHE 532 Development Project, part of coursework for a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education at University of Plymouth 2007.
