This presentation introduces the ‘know how’ of embodied knowledge in my practice as an artist film-maker through the screening of a short documentary video, Her Dark Materials, made for the Living Film event at no.w.here in London, 16 October 2013, and reading extracts from the beginning of my PhD thesis, which interrogates the ways in which the body-centred practices of women film artists embrace the materiality of direct animation in order to foreground gendered, subjective positions.Her Dark Materials from Sundog Media on Vimeo.
