This is how it begins: origins of practice in direct animation
Theatre, Dance and Performing Arts research seminar
30 January 2014, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, room 203 Smeaton Building, University of Plymouth
This presentation introduces the ‘know how’ of embodied knowledge in my practice as an artist film-maker through the screening of a short documentary video, Her Dark Materials, made for the Living Film event at in London, 16 October 2013, and reading extracts from the beginning of my PhD thesis, which interrogates the ways in which the body-centred practices of women film artists embrace the materiality of direct animation in order to foreground gendered, subjective positions.
